Since I am so behind I am not going to try to catch up on everything but just try to start where we are. We were able to take a last summer vacation last week to Avila Beach on the Central Coast in CA. Matt and I went there for part of our honeymoon and this is the first time that we have gone back and this time with our 4 kids. We had a great time.
This is the cute little boardwalk
They had a pirate themed playground on the beach that the kids enjoyed
We took a walk out to the end of one of the three piers on the first morning. They had stairs down to the water near the end of the pier about 200 ft out. It was neat to see the sea life that was down there. Carter spotted the crab floating on a stray piece of seaweed out in the water.
Kailey sleeping on the beach
The first night we had dinner out near a different pier at a restaurant called Fat Cats. Wouldn't suggest it for dinner. Matt and I had eaten breakfast there before and that was much better so next time we will get breakfast. After we ate we walked to the end of this pier. They have a ton of Sea Lions down below this pier. They have stairs going down but the Sea Lions are LOUD and mean. They can bite too so we kept our distance but it was fun to watch them. We also saw a pelican eating it's dinner and an otter out in the kelp bed.
The next morning we decided that it would be fun to take a ride on one of the five person bikes. Haha BIG mistake. But it did provide some great laughs and good memories. Lets just say that they are not actually made to get that many people around easily. We felt like pioneers and changed the words to the popular primary pioneer song to "'some must pedal and some must push as we go biking up the hill". That was pretty much how we had to get up any hills on the bike path. The kids loved it though and it helped me to work out while on vacation.
We spent most of the day on the beach this day and then had dinner and took pictures on the beach and played at the park.
The next day we went to the Avila Family Barn to get some of their delicious pies
and pick some peaches :)
It was a great trip! Can't wait to go back...
